My Apologies.... Posted 10-28-2001 15:17

This is John Soloman. I was in France for a few weeks and have just now noticed the chaos I have started on this little website. I made a typographical error in my first post. I represent Dreamwerks Pictures, not Dreamworks. We're a low budget horror distribution company based out of Thousand Oaks, CA. It was a simple typo, however it made my post look Illegitmate. I am still interested in distributing Moon Beast and it's fan sequel. They both look like they are shaping up to be fine horror films. Cats have such scary eyes. Thank you. You can contact me at my website.

you must be joking Posted 10-28-2001 18:08

do you really think we are going to believe you? first of all, your link doesn't work, second thanks to Garrett, anyone can go back and read the archived forum on his site: http://pythonet.org/fastforward/moonbeastforum.html

If you want to check your post, you'll see that you first said that you work for Dreamworks in the first sentance. Then at the end, you had a link to your email address: Johnsmn1@Dreamworks.com (And I'll remind everyone that to make a link like that in html, you need to type the address TWICE) which makes it 3 times in that post that you "accidently" typed an O instead of an E...

That would have been bad enough, but later you posted again saying "I really do work for Dreamworks Pictures" and yet AGAIN you had a link to an email address @ Dreamworks.com

Was that the last time? No, You again stated that you work for Dreamworks when you told us all that you thought it would be a great project for Mandy Moore.

So, you want us to believe that you accidently typed O instead of E 7 times, and you meant Dreamwerks all along? ... sure.

Timberwolf [guest] from REwind Online Reply To This Message
You know Garrett Posted 10-28-2001 18:18

I was going to post ripping this "typo" claim apart too.

Then I thought that maybe this post is in fact a joke by one of us to further the joke. Hell I hope so, if not, they are pretty stupid.

you dumbass Posted 10-28-2001 18:19

that post was obviously a joke. It couldn't have been the "real" John soloman. Nobody would be stupid enough to ACTUALLY claim it was a typo 7 times...
Scruffles [guest] from REwind Online Reply To This Message

We actually knew Soloman was from "Dreamwerks" rather than Dreamworks all along. He often claims to be from the real Freamwuorks in internet posts. In reality, the REAL Moon Beast is being distributed by Twentieth Century Cat, a REAL movie studio as opposed to fakers like Dreamworks and Dreamwurst.

Production is still going well, with lots of blood and tits and explosions. We are glad at the fan response to this film, though we are now too rich and famous to comment much further.

Why the Censorship Jon? Posted 10-24-2001 12:55

I know it got completely out of control, but no one seemed to be getting hurt by the whole "looking for someone" thread.

I know in the past Jon you've been EXTREMELY conservative with deleting things and only did it when someone was being hurt.

For the first time in WEEKS there was actually some energy on this board and now poof.

Sorry, but I just don't understand your thinking Jon. Plus, whoever posted the original message brought it upon themselves.
Jon from REwind Online Reply To This Message
Deletions.. Posted 10-24-2001 19:41

It's hurting quite a few people CC, including me. I've received a huge amount of flak for letting this thread go on as long as I have. This includes mail from people I know very well, and from several groups. But that isn't why I deleted the thread.

I'm working my ass off for everyone here because I love this site and what we do. I'm trying to hook up site sponsors, get new media, get festival sponsorship, and so forth. And I do that by asking those interested parties to visit my site, visit the forums and read from the people who make up this community to see how serious they are about this. And when one did come, what did they find? A 160 post thread of someone's joke, spawned as a flame reaction to someone's mistake, renewed and moved to the top of the list every morning.

When I got an e-mail inquiring about this post from someone I'm really hoping to sign-on, you better believe I was upset. And it met one of the two possible requirements for deletion. The request of the original poster, or significantly affecting the site in a negative way. I've asked the gentleman to look past the one thread, and happily I think he will. But the last thing I need is my potential sponsors thinking REwind is a bunch of brats with cameras. Because you're not - though one or two people seem intent on making it look that way.

If anyone has issues with my deleting this thread, I'll understand. I apologize for killing the joke, but it's gone on too long. Sorry guys.

Jon

Thanks for the response Jon.

While I don't personally agree with the deletion of any post since this is an open forum, it's your site and I respect that.

But, if people don't understand that this is the internet and any open forum is likely to have moments like this then....well they need to realize that.

I just think that if your going to block all non-movie posts then you should block and delete ALL of them. That's all I'm asking for is consistency.

But, that's just me.

I'm interested to see who this is hurting, considering that most people were either in on it or weren't, and the ones that weren't sure didn't speak up about it. I have a pretty hard time thinking that whoever gave you "flak" would actually write to you instead of posting it. Sure hasn't stopped people before.

Most of us did this because it was fun. We didn't know who the Moon Beast person was. We didn't care. It was just a title. Does the Jay Santo thread sound familiar? We caught on to a joke and went with it. If you are worried about your sponsors, that's a pretty poor excuse to erase the biggest and funniest thread that has happened here.

I write this anonymously because I don't know who the complainers were, if there really were any. I didn't talk to anybody who was. This whole place could use a cleaning if you are going to start doing it.

<sigh> r-e-s-p-e-c-t THE ASHBY Posted 10-25-2001 02:44

You know, it's really sad that this is happening at all. If you want to joke around fine. Posting over 150 messages in less than a week is a fruitless attempt at attention getting. When people that Jon is trying so damn hard to get sponsor site reads garbage like that it reflects badly on us here at REwind and on all of you people in the low budget community.

Jon has spent A LOT of money and even more time into REwindvideo. Jon isn't independently wealth, it cost us all money. So when a potential sponsor comes to read the forums and sees garbage postings, what do you think the chances of Jon's financial burden being lifted are? He has a house, Wedding, camp REwind, and the Festival to plan for moneywise. Jon is actually postponing his honeymoon so he can goto camp REwind and the RVM:IMF next year.

If you can find anybody else more dedicated to low budget filmakers than Jon, then bring it. Otherwise if Jon feels he has to kill a couple of bad posts to benifit the whole, I have no problem with it. Ashby makes things happen around here so please stop despecting himself by playing these juvenile games.

I've known Jon longer than anyone else has, we grew up as kids, everytime somebody disses him he isn't the only one hurt here.

Wally..

on a lighter note, really a technical note. REwind is based in Canada which isn't a democracy. Canada is part of the Commonwealth of England. That means Kings and Queens make the say. Here Jon is King. No I'm not Queen, just the court jester.

I did indeed enjoy the Moon Beast posts as it was funny schlock in the begining, it did get out of hand towards the end. I don't know how much investors pay serious attention to the forums, but it's Jon's call if he wants to delete it. Garrett had the idea for the Immature Movie Database, maybe that should be created? I think we all appreciate all the work Jon does and it would really suck if Rewind was no more cuase it's a great conduit for all of us to meet and exchange ideas.

and Wally your comments about Canada confuse me. The King and Queen have no real power in England and you guys do vote for your prime minister? I hope you are in jest, but it again raises the unanswerable question for me: What is Canada?

That sounds good Dragon. Where will you be shooting "Senoritas"? Your website says it's about people in high school, so I assume you'll be shooting at one (school I mean, not shooting at students...haha ok bad joke)?

How are you doing the movie? You mentioned it's a project for school, will you be using the schools equipment for filming and editing? I'd be interested in seeing some screenshots from the film when you get started, or maybe some photographs of the location.

What you said sounds good, let's see some more!

It's for a school project Posted 11-3-2001 14:54

Senioritis will be shot on location at my school. I'm using a few friends from my Drama Class to be the actors. The whole class will be extras in the film. They asked me how much they were going to get paid. I said "None." Then my teacher yelled at them because I was a fellow drama student and they wanted me to pay them. I think some of them really wanted to be paid. We've purchased a brand new and expensive DCR-VX17 Sony DV camera and Studio DV. I'm probably gonna go see my friend about the editing. He is in college and has Avid and After Effects and all that cool stuff. Demon Doll was shot in 3 days and edited in 20 min. It was shot on our now deceased Panasonic 3CCD camera in frame mode and uses alot of POV shots. It aired in front of my school and people loved it. They keep asking me when there will be a part 2. I said " Guys it's only 5 min long." :) When I get a chance I'm going to put picks up on my site. I'm going to try to enter both of them into the Rewind Festival. I'm also gonna try to pick back up on Moon Beast too and try to get that out in time.

MOON BEAST 2 released to the web! Posted 10-28-2001 06:55

The official site for our fan sequel to Dark Dragon's Moon Beast, entitled "Moon Beast 2: Beast From the Moon," is now up at PythoNET.org!
We began and ended shooting this afternoon and are quite pleased with the results. We hope you will be too. We've accidentally burned our only copy of the actual movie, but you can read a full and detailed synopsis online at:

Our MOON BEAST website.

With apologies to Dark Dragon films. But let's face it, this joke stopped referencing your actual movie quite a while ago.

What was the inspiration for this madness? Well, as you may recall, awhile back, someone claiming to be Orson Welles from REwindvideo.com invited REwinders to come up with their own fan films based on the recently deleted [and frighteningly popular] thread about a fictional version of the [real] Dark Dragon movie "Moon Beast."

Now I came to this Moon Beast thing pretty late, but definitely enjoyed reading it as it mushroomed into what it became. And as I managed to save the whole Moon Beast thread on my site shortly before it was deleted, it seems as if the Moon Beast joke is basically residing there for the time being. So I guess I'll toss this out, in honor of "Orson" ... If anyone makes their own sites or films inspired by Moon Beast, let me know in this thread, or at tygerbug@lycos.com, and I'll put your info up on the site.

This young man with the kitten is obviously attempting to capitalize on my film, which I cannot allow. Will "Moon Beast" ever be released? Absolutely. My friends at R.K.O. Pictures and I are in pre-production as of this writing.

To all, please understand that I am Orson Welles. I have many followers, and it seems many imitators, however I am he that weaves a sordid string of conceit and discontent.
