He's back! In spite of popular demand!

RADIO MAN: THE WEB SERIES
Episode 1: "I am on the Video"

(9 minutes, 19 MB, requires Quicktime 6)

Radio Man has ... against all better judgement and sanity ... been a recurring feature at FFrevolution.com since it started in 2001. He's done 10 radio episodes, 3 half-hour radio specials, and 6 live stand-up acts ... along with a trailer for an unmade film. And I say, the best kind of horse to beat is a dead horse, so I'm proud to announce that Radio Man has finally done what I thought he'd never do ... he's become a video man. Strangely, he's still doing the same old radio show. Except we can see him now.

In the first episode of this new web series, Radio Man reunites with his old friend Deejay, and learns some important lessons about his own sexuality. He also performs the "Flower Song." Twice. Radio Man's mom's fish are also involved. More are coming soon.

New video! Gods of L.A. Teaser: "Jules on Film" (Quicktime, 9.7 MB)

This is not a trailer, but a very unusual kind of teaser for Gods of Los Angeles ... my feature drama which has been three years in the making and is coming in March 2005.

Even though I've been editing nonstop, I haven't put out a new video clip at this site in a couple months ... so lemme break the silence with this ... enjoy. This teaser consists entirely of a scene which won't be in the final movie, but which I like anyway, and I thought the subject matter might make it ironically appropriate as a teaser for a film. This teaser was shot in April 2002.

It stars Mariana McConnell as Jules Kirschner, and Cori Haisler as Lily Benton. Cinematography was by Jason Gutierrez. Sound recording and boom operation was by Jason Gutierrez. Camerawork was by Garrett Gilchrist, who also wrote, directed and edited the film.

RADIO MAN: THE WEB SERIES
Episode 2: "Deejay Has a Drug Problem"

(8 minutes, 16.7 MB, requires Quicktime 6)

In this very special after school special, Radio Man has to confront his best friend ... because his best friend has a drug problem. That's right folks, Deejay is hooked on the smack, and only Radio Man can save him. This very special episode tackles the rampant drug problem in our country. Also: Radio Man sings "The Potato/11 song!" Don't miss it! Or do. See if I care.

Gods of Los Angeles Rough Cut Complete!

It only took me three years, but I have finally completed major editing on my long-awaited ambitious romantic philosophical feature drama, Gods of Los Angeles. The film is not yet available for purchase - wait for it in March or so. This is my first rough cut of the movie. The score is still being composed, and I will be shooting pickups and deleting scenes before the official DVD release, planned for March. This first edit runs a shockingly long 2 hours 44 minutes! This is not your average low-budget movie. The special edition multi-disc DVD set will contain deleted scenes, outtakes, interviews, screen tests, and much more. The film, a heartbreaking yet hopeful story of life, love and loss in Los Angeles, stars David Ashe, Cori Haisler, Katherine Hoagland, David Maddox and Mariana McConnell. It is written, directed and edited by Garrett Gilchrist. You can watch the second (2003) trailer here in Realplayer format, and the first (2002) trailer here in Quicktime format.

Star Wars: Deleted Magic.
Deleted scenes. Alternate footage. A look behind the scenes at what didn't make it to the final cut of the Star Wars trilogy. This is for truly obsessive Star Wars fans. I have deconstructed the first film, putting deleted footage, behind the scenes footage, alternate sound and video, and notes on how the film came together in editing ... The inspiration is the infamous "Lost Cut" of Star Wars, which was much slower-paced, and generally seen to not have worked as a film. George Lucas, along with editors Marcia Lucas, Paul Hirsch and Richard Chew, were able to completely reenvision the film into the version we know today ... But let's look at the version that could have been. The infamous "Biggs Darklighter" scenes are included, along with lots of other fun stuff. It's a completely different vision of the first Star Wars that will give you an idea as to what was cut out, and how the film was made and put together. You can view the first 11 parts of the documentary here: Star Wars: Deleted Magic. Hope you like it.

Completely reedited and remastered as a tribute to the late Niket Doshi. (1980-2001)

"The Lord of the Sword" - From Excaliburger. (38.8 MB, Quicktime 6 MPEG-4)

One of the things I really wanted to do, when I went back to CT this New Year's, was to visit Niket Doshi's family and give them a compilation of their son's film work ... I wanted to do a tribute to Niket (who passed away in 2001), because he was a great friend and is greatly missed. I decided to reedit Niket's scenes from Excaliburger - I didn't edit any of the old movies digitally, and that's a shame because Excaliburger could have been a much better film if I'd been able to do that, especially knowing what I know now, 4 1/2 years later. I even did color correcting on it to bring out the detail. The sound is much better now, and it's a very different edit - I used a lot of different takes and more wonky closeups. Some deleted material has also been reinstated. This little scene is part of a full 30 minute tribute. Enjoy the clip. It's DVD quality now and looks pretty good on a TV, but then I go and compress it for the web so it looks bad again! Long live Excaliburger! Fight choreographed by Niket Doshi and David Ashe. Camerawork by David Brown and Garrett Gilchrist. Music by David Ashe and Tal Pearson. Starring Niket Doshi, Garrett Gilchrist, David Ashe.

RADIO MAN: THE WEB SERIES
Episode 3: "Radio Man Finds a Mate"

(9.5 minutes, 28.7 MB, requires Quicktime 6)

BEWARE! The MONSTER seeks a MATE! In this episode, Radio Man explains why his shows have been a bit crap lately - he's been distracted. You see, Radio Man is in LOVE! Yes, love is in the air, and you'll find out all the creepy details, as we head to the inevitable conclusion. Plus, Radio Man sings his new hit song, "The King of All Fish," and some other songs.

This is one of the last of the "regular," normal boring episodes I've got taped - I've been releasing these first rather than the more interesting "special" episodes, because the special episodes are harder to edit, and I've got a lot of other things I have to do right now. But there will be some very special episodes coming up, I promise ... that will make sitting through this batch worthwhile. I've also shot a full-length Radio Man Holiday Special, to be released for Christmas 2005. Beware.
