Camp Fastforward Day 2 Video!

Day 2 video! http://pythonet.org/fastforward/campfastforwardday2.rm On day 2, the plan was for Camp Fastforward to really kick into high gear! Besides the usual amateur movie screenings, including clips from Bravado's "The End Pt. 2" and a special screening of lots of classic films by USC students that Rewinders haven't seen, including Lorenzo Manetti's "Holden" and Rob Keith's "The Mixed-up Psycho Communist Martian Invasion", the plan was to take in some art ... the German silent classic "Metropolis" by Fritz Lang is also in town, for a few days only, newly restored with footage long thought lost, with the original musical score restored, and taken from a beautiful print ... Metropolis like it's never been seen before. Afterward there would be a buffet meal, and pig races. Well, once again no one's shown up. I thought that offering to show some Bravado clips would get Alan and Erin or Warren and Jonason to show, at the very least. I mean, how far away is frickin' Oregon? Goddamnit. I'm so fucking lonely. Well, Camp Fastforward sort of hit a lull today, with not much of interest really going on, as opposed to the big, fancy plans that as always go to dust in front of my eyes, just like everything else I put love and committment into, like my relationship with Mariana McConnell, who left me suddenly and without explanation, via AOL Instant Messenger. Fastforward head honcho and master of ceremonies Garrett Gilchrist had stayed up until 6am the night before trying to get this damn scene for Gods of L.A. edited, and he couldn't go to sleep because when he goes to sleep the bastards at Waite Philips Hall erase all his work on the hard drives. Always. So he woke up around 2, his mind, eyes and body fried, missing most of his scheduled activities for the day. He could vaguely remember dreaming that he was dreaming he was having a sex dream. Which means he slept poorly. No amateur filmmakers had shown up, so Garrett planned to go to the Metropolis screening with members of USC's special effects society, SCFX, instead. He hastily grabbed a pasta meal, because he didn't want to miss the 5:30 scheduled meeting time atop Parking Structure X. But Maverick was on tv, and he started to watch it and dawdle. Pasta was a bad idea with him in the physical condition he was in, and his body feeling like it hadn't had enough sleep and definitely not in the pasta mood. He ate too much pasta, and started to throw up, then stopped himself. He ate nothing more the entire rest of the day, even though he stayed up past 4 am. He finally ran out the door around 5:20, and showed up at Parking Structure X at 5:42, 12 minutes late. The members of SCFX had gone without him. Without a car of his own, or any means of supporting himself, Garrett found himself horribly alone and once again with nothing to do for the day. He'd also missed a lot of Maverick. And he still felt like throwing up. He plodded back to his apartment, and watched the rest of Maverick, while trying to run some programs and remove and sound from the one scene in Gods of LA that wasn't shot properly. This basically entailed telling the computer what to do, and then waiting for 5 hours. Which Garrett had nothing better to do than do. Eventually he returned to Waite Philips Hall, where he got absolutely nothing done. No work on Gods, nothing. All he did was post this fucking Camp Fastforward video. And that for some reason took 6 hours to accomplish. It is now 4 am. Oh, he did some work on the GMP website to advertise Oranges 2 too. Oh, and also he realizes his life is a horrible empty lie. Watch him realize this in the exciting day 2 video! http://pythonet.org/fastforward/campfastforwardday2.rm

I liked trying to figure out what was going on in the Gods of LA sneak peek in the background. Again, this video has captured the harsh reality of depression that low-budget filmmakers will inevitably fall into at some point in their careers, as indeed it seems folks like Mike Stoklasa are there now. We made need to start counseling around here.

I am gonna go ahead and jump the gun a bit, without seeing any further clips from the FFFF. When this is all done, I look forward to a DVD collection of the full weeks videos, complete with commentary track, bloopers reel, soundtrack retrospective, making of featurett, and exerpts from the upcoming novel cronicaling the festivals events ( avaliable on line for download, for $2.00.) Garret, you are a twisted genius! R. M. McWhorter

| Being bored isn't all that bad. I just go to class and back to my room. I do that everyday.
